What to expect from the WP Haven process.

We try to make the onboarding process as painless as possible. Detailed here is a step by step guide on what you can expect of your experience with WP Haven. If you'd like to prepare ahead of time, here are the logins we'll ask of you after you've signed up. And don't worry, if you're unsure of what any of these are then our onboarding team will walk you through everything:

  • Domain Registrar / DNS Access
  • WordPress Admin Access. Ideally this would be a new user created for us, info@wphaven.app
  • Current Hosting Access. This could be either SSH credentials, control panel login, or account login.
  1. Purchase a plan
    Select any plan from our pricing page to begin the process, or contact us about our Enterprise plans.
  2. Send us your credentials
    Once you've purchased your plan (or, we've set up your Enterprise plan) you'll immediately be taken to your account dashboard and the settings page for entering in all of the information that we need in order to migrate and work on your website. This data is encrypted, or you can send us a secure link that expires using a tool like onetimesecret. Instructions will be provided for common services (like Godaddy) on how to add us as a delegated user to your account. You'll also receive an email with details on setting up your own password.

  3. Website audit
    We run through our checklist to analyze your website's statistics, traffic, plugins, theme, and familiarize ourselves with its general history to make sure we have an intimate knowledge of your website's needs, find out what premium plugin licenses you may be missing, and to make sure everyone has what is needed to be armed for success.
  4. Migration
    If we'll be handling your hosting, then at this point we'll coordinate with you, and/or your IT team, on a date and time for the migration to occur. Under normal circumstances there would be no downtime during this process at all.
  5. Backups, environments, and WP Haven plugins
    It's time for maintenance prep! We create our backup schedule, set up an additional website environment for running all updates and testing prior to pushing anything live, and install our own plugins that implement extra security and quality of life features for the website.
  6. Security and performance optimizations
    For our Protect and Premium plans, we begin all of the manual and automated customizations necessary to reap all of the benefits from these plans. We'll send you some before and after metrics from multiple tools.
  7. Weekly maintenance begins
    Now we get to the fun part! If everything's going smoothly then you won't hear much from us once this has begun. At any time you can log into your WP Haven dashboard to view what changes we're making here. Welcome aboard!
